Chai Tea Latte

A warm and aromatic chai tea latte combining spiced black tea with creamy steamed milk for a comforting and flavorful beverage.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 black tea bags or 2 teaspoons loose black tea
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 4-5 whole cloves
  • 3-4 green cardamom pods, crushed
  • 1-inch piece of fresh ginger, sliced
  • 1/2 teaspoon black peppercorns
  • 2 cups milk (dairy or plant-based)
  • 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a small pot, combine water, cinnamon stick, cloves, cardamom, ginger, and peppercorns. Bring to a boil.
  2. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes to infuse the spices.
  3. Add the black tea bags or loose tea, steep for 3-5 minutes depending on desired strength, then strain out the spices and tea.
  4. In another pot, heat the milk until steaming but not boiling. Froth if desired.
  5. Stir honey (or maple syrup) and vanilla extract into the brewed spiced tea.
  6. Pour the spiced tea into cups and top with steamed milk.
  7. Garnish with a sprinkle of cinnamon or a cinnamon stick if desired. Serve warm.

Notes

For a vegan version, use almond or oat milk and maple syrup to sweeten. Adjust spices to your taste for a milder or stronger chai flavor.
