This Caramel Butter Pecan Praline Poke Cake is a rich, moist dessert featuring buttery pecans and luscious caramel layered over a soft vanilla cake, perfect for any special occasion or sweet craving.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box vanilla cake mix (plus ingredients called for on the box)
  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup chopped pecans, toasted
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened (for frosting)
  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven according to cake mix instructions and prepare cake batter.
  2. Pour batter into a greased 9×13 inch baking pan and bake as directed.
  3. Allow cake to cool for 10 minutes, then use the handle of a wooden spoon to poke holes all over the surface of the cake.
  4. Pour warm caramel sauce evenly over the holes, letting it seep into the cake.
  5. In a saucepan, combine butter, brown sugar, heavy cream, and salt. Bring to a boil and cook for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and chopped pecans. Pour the praline topping evenly over the cake.
  7. Let the cake cool completely.
  8. In a bowl, beat together the softened butter, cream cheese, and powdered sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  9. Spread the frosting over the cooled cake and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.

Notes

For extra crunch, sprinkle additional toasted pecans on top just before serving.
